Vietnam: Cholera Update

According to the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, from early 2010 until now, the country recorded 44 cases of acute diarrhea caused by cholera (no deaths) in nine provinces.

In the north, radiator service has appeared in five provinces, mainly related to the diet of people. However, Dr. Nguyen Tran Hien - Director of the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology warning, most likely cholera can occur at several localities in the future. This is because the source of the outbreak of cholera disease is still mainly from sources such as patients with acute diarrhea caused by cholera germs and bring fresh, water, aquatic plants contaminated with cholera.

With the large cholera outbreak happened in the North during the years 2007-2009, so unavoidable a certain number of identical sound as bringing some surface water sources contaminated with cholera. From these sources, bacteria can easily spread to describe water and any foods that do cause disease in the community.
