A report released by the Directorate of communicable diseases in the Syrian Ministry of Health to more than 240 thousand Syrians were the flu during the first nine months of 2011, and they are only wounded who went to Ministry of Health hospitals and health centers in the Syrian governorates in order to hospitalization, although according to local newspaper that most influenza infections dealt with outside the health records, which means that the true figures much higher than stated in the report.

The newspaper quoted a source in the Ministry of Health that is not registered any cases of bird flu or swine flu in 2011 in any of the hospitals, both public and private sectors.
